Northwest China's Xinjiang has produced over 30 billion cubic meters (bcm) of natural gas this year as of December 23, becoming the second Chinese province/region after Shaanxi with annual natural gas output exceeding 30 bcm.
Xinjiang currently has a daily natural gas output capacity of 95 million cubic meters, according to statistics from the four major oilfields in the autonomous region. Natural gas production in the far western Chinese region soared in the past decade, with annual output rising from 5.7 bcm in 2004 to 29.6 bcm in 2014, accounting for 22.7 percent of China's total natural gas output in 2014.
