China discusses with Russian energy minister on oil gas cooperation

Nur Bekri, head of China's National Energy Administration (NEA), discussed with Russian energy minister Alexander Novak on gas and oil cooperation, according to a circular posted on the NEA's website on Thursday.

The two sides made an in-depth exchange on Yamal LNG project and the cooperation between the two countries on oil and gas field. Yamal LNG, which is set to be launched in 2017, is a liquefied natural gas plant with a planned capacity of 16.5 million tonnes per year and is valued at $27 billion.

It is located in on the Yamal peninsula, an Arctic region of Siberia that is a key Russian oil and gas producing region.
