China will host the eighth Clean Energy Ministerial (CEM8) and the Second Mission Innovation Ministerial (MI-2) in Beijing on June 6 to 8, according to the Ministry of Science and Technology (MOST) on Thursday.

Representatives from 26 countries, 7 international organizations and world-famous enterprises will discuss the transition to clean-energy economies during the meeting, said Chen Linhao, deputy director of the department of international cooperation at MOST.

The meeting also aims to boost cooperation between countries, organizations and companies, said Chen.

The CEM is a global forum to promote policies and programs that advance clean energy technology, share lessons learned and best practices, and encourage the transition to a global clean energy economy.

It was founded by the United States in 2010. The MI is a global initiative of 22 countries and the European Union to accelerate global clean energy innovation.

It was announced in November 2015 as world leaders visited Paris to undertake joint efforts to combat climate change.
