SEOUL, June 27 (Xinhua) -- Sentiment among South Korean businesses over economic situation remained low amid the weak export that led to the slumping facility investment, central bank data showed Thursday.

The business sentiment index (BSI) stood at 74 in June, up 1 point from the previous month, according to the Bank of Korea (BOK).

The figure rose slightly, but it stayed at a low level amid the continued fall in export, which accounts for about half of the export-driven economy. The export kept sliding for six straight months through May.

The BSI below 100 indicates pessimists outnumbering optimists. Hit by the export fall, the BSI among manufacturers slipped 1 point over the month to 75 in June.

The BSI for exporters declined 3 points to 80 in the cited period, but the index for companies focusing on the local market was unchanged at 71.

The BSI among non-manufacturers gained 3 points to 74 in the month. The BSI among real estate developers rose sharply on the rising sale of new apartments.
