China Food and Drug Administration (CFDA) on Monday issued a revised catalogue of medical instruments, which will be put into use on Aug. 1, 2018.

Li Bo, head of the National Institutes for Food and Drug Control affiliated with the CFDA, said that medical instruments will be categorized into 22 subdirectories according to their functions and clinical uses.

The current catalogue of medical instruments contains 43 subdirectories.

All parties related to medical instruments are expected to deepen understanding of the new catalogue in a year, said Wang Zhexiong, director of the CFDA's registration division.
