China's cabinet, the State Council, has approved the Guidance on Boosting Infrastructure Construction for Electric Vehicle (EV) Charging Facilities, which will be publicized soon, the Securities Times quoted an official with the National Energy Administration (NEA) as saying on Friday.
The NEA's deputy director Zheng Shanjie said the guidance will pay special attention to the national standards on charge interface and communication protocols, which have been approved by the examinations organized by the Standardization Administration.
According to Zheng, China will upgrade and rebuild the existing charging facilities with unified standards; formulating standards for new charging technologies, such as wireless charging; improve fundamental works, such as measurement, billing and settlement for charging facilities.
He added that all foreign EV makers shall follow China's national standards to build charging facilities. According to him, the US high-profile EV maker Tesla Motor participated in the formulation of national standards and will adjust its production line after the national standards are publicized.
