China's Ministry of Housing and Urban-Rural Development (MOHURD) has set a target for charging facility construction, which is each new energy vehicle (NEV) having at least one basic charging equipment, said the ministry's vice minister Lu Kehua.
Lu said at a press conference on Friday that the government will require all newly-built houses to build or prepare charging facility for each parking space.
As for parking lots in large public buildings and urban public parking lots, the number of parking spaces equipped with charging facilities shall account for no less than ten percent of the total.
The vice minister said the MOHURD has included the requirements in the Norm for Urban Parking Planning, which will be publicized and implemented soon.
Lu added that the ministry will also improve standards on charging facility construction and pay special attention to unifying interface standard, in a bid to avoid incompatibility among charging facilities.
