CRRC Corporation Zhuzhou Institute's energy-saving braking power reusing system, having passed a five-month-long test run, was recently fully applied on locomotives running along the Shuozhou-Huanghua railway.
The system could save 1.5 million yuan worth of power for each locomotive per year, according to a source with the institute. And if all the 153 locomotives shuffling along the second largest coal-transporting railway of China adopt the system, about 229 million yuan worth of power could be saved for railway operator Shenhua Group, China's top coal producer.
The system is like a mobile generator which could recycle used energy back to the high voltage power grid to be re-used, according to an engineer with the institute, noting the self-developed technology is up to world leading level.
