China's shipbuilding industry has seen new ship order drop 65.4 percent year on year to 18.16 million dead weight tonnages (DWT) in the first three quarters due to sluggish international shipbuilding market, 6.4 percentage points less than the year-on-year drop in the first six months, according to the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT).

This included 7.19 million compensated gross tonnages (CGT) of seacraft order, according to the MIIT. The country completed shipbuilding of 29.37 million DWT in the first nine months, up 12.7 percent year on year.

This included 10.2 million CGT of seacrafts. Shipbuilding companies held ship order of 133.27 million DWT by the end of September, down 13.9 percent year on year.
