China is expected to unveil robot standards within the year to create a good external environment for the robot development, the Xinhua-run Shanghai Securities News reported on Wednesday.

At present, there are no national standards in robot testing and assessment in China. Several departments are studying and formulating the certification system of robot products and key components, according to Lu Weisheng, an official of the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), China's top economic planner, at the World Robot Conference.

Meanwhile, some departments are considering supporting the robot industry development by means of setting up industry fund. With the rise in labor costs in China, either the technological requirement or the industry upgrading will generate demands for the robots in the industrial manufacturing.

Plus the national policy support, the robot industry will embrace rapid development in the future, said Wu Feng, a researcher at Bolan Information. Among China's A-share listed firms, Shanghai STEP Electric (002527.SZ), Harbin Boshi Automation (002698.SZ), Siasun Robot & Automation (300024.SZ), and Canny Elevator (002367.SZ) are engaged in robot manufacturing.
