China's National Energy Administration (NEA) has released a list of projects for establishing an electric vehicle (EV) charging facility standard system, according to the NEA's official website on Monday.
Meanwhile, the NEA has joined hands with the Standardization Administration of China to formulate relevant standards on EV charging facilities, to provide significant technological supports for the development of EV charging and battery swap facilities.
The EV charging facility standard system is divided into two layers and constitutes eight technology areas and 58 standards.
Industry insiders say the new standards will comprehensively and systematically standardize the charging interface and communication protocol of EV charging facilities, which provides technology guarantee for the quality of charging facilities, guarantees interconnection between EVs and charging facilities, protects the market from disordered development and the EV charging network from islanding effect, prevents the waste of social resources, boosts the implementation of EV industrial policies and bolsters consumer confidence.
Statistics show China has built 3,600 EV charging and battery swapping stations and 49,000 charging piles by now. The number of charging piles increased 58 percent year on year and is 18,000 more than that for the end of 2014. At present, lack of charging facilities remains as an obstacle to the development of pure EVs.
According to analysts with Shenwan Hongyuan Securities, several A-stock listing companies are engaged in charging pile related business. They include Zhejiang Wanma Co., Ltd. (002276.SZ), Shenzhen Auto Electric Power Plant Co., Ltd. (002227.SZ) and Qingdao TGOOD Electric Co., Ltd. (300001.SZ).
