Some 10 percent of exhibitors at the Bauma 2016 International Trade Fair -- which began here Monday -- come from China.

Qi Jun, president of the China Construction Machinery Association, said: "Chinese construction machinery enterprises have completed a qualitative leap. Initially we tried to learn Western technologies, later we made independent research and development. Now we provide engineering equipment for the world together with world-class companies."

Collin Davis, project group manager of Bauma, said he was delighted to see Chinese manufacturers providing equipment not only to customers from developing markets in Africa, Asia and Latin America, but also to those from developed markets like Europe and the United States.

Li Suoyun, vice president of the Xuzhou Construction Machinery Group, said it is an inevitable trend for Chinese companies such as his to go abroad.

"We have our advantage and patents, our products are cost-effective on the world stage," Li said.

Bauma, held every three years, is the world's largest specialized trade fair. Visitors and audience can learn about the latest products and ideas in the construction and mining equipment industry.
