China is to promote establishment of green manufacturing standards system, said Gao Yunhu, head of Energy Saving and Comprehensive Use Bureau of the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology (MIIT) on December 1 at the annual conference for Chinese industrial product green design and manufacturing for 2016.

According to Gao, China targets to form a basic standards system for basic and key green manufacturing by 2020, and expand application of the green manufacturing standards in all industrial sectors by 2025.

Meanwhile, China will step up formulating standards for green products, green factories, green enterprises, green parks, and green supply chains.

Industries consume about 70 percent energy in China and therefore a major source for carbon dioxide emission. To accelerate green industrial transformation is the internal requirement for the green economic transformation, noted Gao.

MIIT puts up to systematically promote green manufacturing standard formation by developing green products, setting up green plants, expanding green enterprises, developing green parks, and creating green supply chains.

Meanwhile, MIIT would pilot green design demonstration and green product evaluation in a bid to spread the green manufacturing concept nationwide and enhance competitiveness of green products.
