The country's 25 leading excavator makers sold a total of 15,121 excavators last month, up 6.6 percent year on year, the China Construction Machinery Association said.
In breakdown, 12,409 excavators were sold in the domestic market, down 0.3 percent year on year, while exports of the equipment soared 56.4 percent to 2,695.
Major manufacturers sold a total of 137,207 excavators in the first half of the year, up 14.2 percent from the same period last year.
Over the period, exports of the equipment surged 38.7 percent from a year ago to 12,335. Sales of digging machines are an indicator of the vitality of an economy as demand is usually backed by growth in mining and infrastructure development.
China sold a total of 203,420 excavators in 2018, surging 45 percent year on year, the association said.
