Wuhan, capital city of central China's Hubei province, forbids building any new iron or steel capacity because the sector has surplus supplies, according to a latest document published by the local government.
The city also forbids building new capacities in any form or in any name in other surplus industries such as electrolytic aluminum, cement, glass and shipbuilding. Under the document, related departments or institutions are not allowed to provide land, energy evaluation, environmental assessment or credit support for new capacities in the above sectors, in a bid to dissolve the overcapacity problem.
