China produced 66.12 million tonnes of crude steel in September, down 3 percent from a year earlier, the official data showed on Monday.
September saw a pig iron output of 56.59 million tonnes, down 4.9 percent on year, and a steel production of 94.69 million tonnes, down 0.6 percent on year, the National Bureau of Statistics (NBS) released in a report on the country's economic development during the first three quarters of 2015.
In January-September, China's crude steel output totaled 608.94 million tonnes, down 2.1 percent on year; pig iron output shrank 3.3 percent on year to 528.38 million tonnes; and steel output edged up 1.1 percent to 840.24 million tonnes, the NBS statistics showed.
