After 40-plus-day sea journey, the cargo ship carrying the bauxites from Africa successfully arrived in Yantai Port, east China's Shandong province. The bauxites will be then transported to the alumina plant of the Weiqiao Pioneering Group.

On June 20, the Boke port wharf project invested jointly by Yantai Port Group, China Hongqiao Group, Winning Logistics, and Boke Mining Corp was built in Guinea. Yantai Port is in charge of building and running the wharf.

Three berths with annual throughput capacity totaling 10 million metric tons (tonnes) will be built in the phase-I wharf project. In the coming three years, the throughput capacity for bauxites will increase to more than 30 million tonnes annually.

The successful implementation of the project was a result of cooperation between Yantai Port and Weiqiao Pioneering Group. Guinea holds about 30 percent of the high-grade bauxites in the world.

The Boke port wharf project will help promote the bauxite exports to China, according to Zhou Bo, chairman of Yantai Port. China Hongqiao Group is a related company of Weiqiao Pioneering Group.
