Chinese chemical industry registered 9 percent of year-on-year growth of added value in October, 0.1 percentage point higher from that in the previous month, said a recent release by the National Development and Reform Commission.
The output of ethylene, plastics in primary form, synthetic fiber, caustic soda, soda ash and fertilizer grew 4.7 percent, 14.8 percent, 19.3 percent, 1 percent, 1.9 percent and 2.9 percent year on year, respectively. Meanwhile, the output of synthetic rubber, pesticide, rubber tire and calcium carbide dropped 4.8 percent, 0.3 percent, 7.5 percent and 3 percent year on year, respectively.
In the first ten months of 2015, added value in chemical sector expanded 9.5 percent year on year, 1 percentage point lower from that in the same period of 2014. Prices of most key chemicals in October declined from that in the previous month.
The prices of soda ash, urea, diammonium phosphate and calcium carbide posted month-on-month decrease of 2.9 percent, 3.1 percent, 0.3 percent and 8.6 percent, respectively. Still, the average prices of caustic soda stood at 2.350 yuan per tonne, up 4.4 percent month on month and 7.8 percent year on year, respectively.
