Statistics show that as of October 21, the number and turnover of commercial residential housing signed for sale in Beijing totaled 43,237 houses and 157.38 billion yuan, exceeding the turnover of 155.14 billion yuan recorded in 2014. Mid- and high-end residential houses took a greater proportion in the transactions and pushed up the overall contracted price.
As of October 21, the average contracted price of commercial residential houses in Beijing totaled 29,016 yuan/square meter, up 7.8 percent over 2014. An industry insider said that the need for a better living condition has replaced rigid demand and become a mainstream in the housing market. The average area of the houses signed for sale reached 125.4 square meters, exceeding 120 square meters for the first time in four years since 2011.
