China's telecom industry registered 1,452.93 billion yuan in business volume in January-September 2015, up 24.6 percent year on year, the Ministry of Industry and Information Technology announced on Wednesday.
The growth was 0.8 percentage point higher than that of the first seven months. In August, the business volume reached 198.13 billion yuan, up 29.7 percent year on year. The three basic telecom operators, China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK), China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) and China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK), generated 773.34 billion yuan of main operating turnovers in the first eight months, growing 2.3 percent from the comparable figures for the year-earlier period.
In August, the three giants grossed 104.5 billion yuan, rising 4.6 percent from the comparable figure for August 2014. The growth rate went up 4.4 percentage points from last month.
