China's geographic information sector to register 22 pct growth in output

China's geographic information industry is expected to record an annual output value of 360 billion yuan in 2015, rising 22 percent on year, according to an industrial conference held on Tuesday in Beijing.

Song Chaozhi, president of China Association for Geographic Information Society, said the industry's output value grow over 20 percent averagely every year in the 12th Five-Year Plan period. Meanwhile, the number of units with survey-mapping qualification kept rising in the period, thanks to policy supports. Statistics show China had 15,699 units with survey-mapping qualification by the end of October, rising 8.2 percent from the end of 2014.

Out of the total number, 8,921 units or 56.8 percent were private enterprises. Besides, China's geographic information industry had its deployment being optimized and showed a trend of spatial agglomeration.

Among the survey-mapping units with A-class qualification, 45 percent were dispersed in eight provinces and municipalities, including Beijing, Tianjin, Hebei, Jiangsu, Zhejiang, Shanghai, Guangdong and Hubei. Research institutes predict the industry will maintain the over 20 percent composite growth in the future, and the annual output value will exceed 800 billion yuan by 2020.
