The ground breaking ceremony for Whirlpool (China) headquarters and its global R D center was held on Thursday in Hefei, capital city of east China's Anhui province, according to a China Securities Journal report on Friday.
It is the largest overseas R D base of the U.S.-based home appliance giant and the enterprise also plans to set up the China headquarters, a global R D and design center, Whirlpool University, as well as a production base in Hefei.
Jin Youhua, board chairman of Whirlpool (China), said the global R D center will be able to share advanced technology of Whirlpool in developing new products in the platform of Whirlpool, help increase the export of Whirlpool (China), and thus facilitate China's home appliance industry 'going global'.
