China's basic telecom operators China Telecom (CHA.NYSE; 00728.HK) and China Unicom (CHU.NYSE; 00762.HK; 600050.SH) will jointly issue a white paper on six-mode terminals on Friday afternoon.

According to the telecom news portal c114.net, the six-mode terminals will support all models of mobile telecom networks, including GSM, CDMA, TD-SCDMA, WCDMA, TD-LTE and FDD-LTE.

These terminals will enable buyers to avoid considering whether the devices can work in the networks of different telecom operators. China Mobile (CHL.NYSE; 00941.HK), the world's largest telecom operator by subscriber number, dominates the domestic 4G market at present.

China Unicom proposed to share 4G network resources and technologies with China Telecom previously, in a bid to jointly narrow their gap with China Mobile.
