China's R D expenditure in 2015 is expected to equal 2.1 percent of the country's gross domestic product (GDP), below the 2.2-percent planned target during the 12th Five-Year Plan period (2011-2015), said Wan Gang, Minster of Science and Technology on Monday.

China still has a long way to go to realize the 2.5-percent objective set in the country's medium and long-term scientific and technological development planning outline (2006-2020) during the 13th Five-Year Plan period from 2016 to 2020, Wan added.

In 2015, the country's R D expenditure is projected to reach 1.43 trillion yuan, double the level in 2010, of which the enterprises' R D expenditure takes a share of more than 77 percent, said Wan. In 2015, the number of national technology transfer demonstration institutions and technology (property right) trading institutions increased to 453 and 30, respectively. The technology transactions in China amounted to 983.5 billion yuan in 2015, up 14.7 percent year on year.
