Chinese telecommunications giant Huawei on Wednesday presented its new operating system SUCCESS eLTE -- Unified System of Convergent Communications for Emergency, Security and eLTE Services -- in the town of Rivas Vaciamadrid.
SUCCESS eLTE is the first private broadband network in Spain for the use of security and emergency services and will become a new tool for the local police and for the organizations which maintain civil protection and other services in the town.
Director of Huawei Enterprise in Spain Jorge Zhu said the company was delighted to be able to work with the Rivas local authority on the project.
"Our implication in this not only shows Huawei's commitment to Spanish society, but also our desire to help promote the digital transformation of the country and the promotion of smart cities," Zhu said.
SUCCESS eLTE is a step forward in the management of communications in emergency services, security and urban maintenance. It also allows for live video streaming, allowing police to follow the development of incidents as they develop.
Rivas Vaciamadrid is considered a pioneering "smart city" in Spain as it currently has a network of 800 km of fiber-optic cables which interconnect 86 municipal buildings, as well as providing a WiFi service for the entire locality.
