A list of 95 domestic online games was approved for licenses, according to notice posted by the State Administration of Press, Publication, Radio, Film and Television on Jan. 24. Both Tencent and Netease appeared on the list. Totally, 352 domestic games had been green-lit since the regulators ended a nine-month freeze in December.

The market once speculated that China’s largest gaming companies may have to wait longer than anticipated to start making money off hit titles.

The approved two games of Tencent, Wood Joints and Folding Fan, are functional plays. Wood Joints enables players to enjoy the “intelligence of mortise and tenon joint”, while Folding Fan guides players to experience the whole production process of hand-made fan.

Tencent rallied over 3 percent during trading hours on Jan.25.
