Cloud data center starts operation in south China

BEIJING, July 8 (Xinhua) -- Chinese tech giant Tencent has begun to operate a cloud data center in south China's Guangdong Province to boost digital technologies.

The data center, covering an area of 26.7 hectares, will serve the cities around the Guangdong-Hong Kong-Macao Greater Bay Area, Science and Technology Daily reported Wednesday.

The technologies of cloud computing, big data, artificial intelligence (AI), blockchain and the Internet of Things (IoT) will be promoted by the data center, which has a designed capacity to accommodate 1 million sets of servers.

High performance servers will be deployed at the center to achieve large scale delivery, diversified needs, high cost effectiveness and high reliability in cloud computing.
