BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- The following is a summary of published science and technology news of China.

MANNED SUBMERSIBLE

China set a new record for its manned deep-sea diving operation with a submersible diving to a depth of 10,909 meters in the Mariana Trench.

The manned submersible "Fendouzhe," which means "striver" in Chinese, successfully landed on the seabed of the Mariana Trench, the world's deepest known trench, at 8:12 a.m. on Tuesday.

ANTARCTIC EXPEDITION

China on Tuesday began the 37th Antarctic expedition as Chinese research icebreaker Xuelong 2, or Snow Dragon 2, set off from Shanghai.

The scientific expedition will carry out hydrological, meteorological and environmental investigations in the south pole and monitor new pollutants such as microplastics and drifting garbage in the Antarctic Ocean.

BIRD STUDY

Using bird sighting records made by Chinese amateur birdwatchers over the past two decades, university researchers have mapped the distribution of more than 1,000 species and predicted the range shifts in the next 50 years.

This is the first time that Chinese citizen science data has been used to study nationwide bird distribution changes and draft conservation planning in the context of climate warming. The study results show that in the next five decades, more than 75 percent of the bird species will expand their distribution ranges and move to northeast or northwest China and high altitude areas due to rising temperatures.

CHANG'E-4 PROBE

The lander and rover of the Chang'e-4 probe have resumed work for the 24th lunar day on the far side of the moon.

The lander woke up at 3:12 a.m. Tuesday, Beijing Time, and the rover Yutu-2, or Jade Rabbit-2, woke up at 10:17 a.m. Monday. Landing on the moon on Jan. 3, 2019, the Chang'e-4 probe has survived 677 Earth days on the moon.
