Saudi Arabia aims to send astronauts to space in 2023

RIYADH, Sept. 22 (Xinhua) -- Saudi Arabia on Thursday launched the kingdom's first manned space trip program that aims to send two Saudi astronauts, a man and a women, in 2023, Saudi Press Agency reported.

The program involves training Saudi qualified candidates to undertake long-term and short-term space flights and conduct scientific experiments and research in areas of health, sustainability and space technology at the same time, according to the Saudi Space Commission.

Saudi Arabia also plans to launch National Space Strategy in the coming months, which will reveal its space programs and initiatives that aim to serve humanity from space.
