MOBILE OS
The number of devices equipped with HarmonyOS, the operating system developed by Chinese telecom giant Huawei, has exceeded 700 million, said the company.
At its annual developer conference held in Dongguan in south China's Guangdong Province, Huawei released its HarmonyOS 4 as well as a newly upgraded development kit and developer preview versions for the operating system.
BOTANICAL GARDEN
As one of the largest and most diverse botanical gardens in China, the Xishuangbanna Tropical Botanical Garden (XTBG) of the Chinese Academy of Sciences in southwest China's Yunnan Province serves as a comprehensive research institution, epitomizing China's endeavor to advance biodiversity ecological civilization by engaging both academia and the public.
Inside the 1,125-hectare garden, there is a 250-hectare patch of preserved virgin tropical rainforest and over 13,000 plant species. One of the XTBG's key functions is to popularize science knowledge, especially on tropical plants and animals.
NEW ENERGY BOOM
The total installed capacity of new energy in south China's five provincial-level areas reached 103.32 million kilowatts (kW) at the end of July, accounting for 25 percent of their total installed capacity, according to China Southern Power Grid Co., Ltd.
From January to July this year, the five provincial-level areas, namely Guangxi Zhuang Autonomous Region, and the provinces of Guangdong, Yunnan, Guizhou, and Hainan, generated 87.5 billion kWh of new energy, up 37.4 percent year on year, and the utilization rate of new energy exceeded 99.9 percent.
