China National Nuclear Corporation (CNNC) announced that the 800-tonne large scale Sino-French nuclear cycling cooperation project is scheduled to start construction in 2020 and complete around 2030.

China would form commercial-use large scale nuclear cycling capacity once the project completes, which could help advance the sustainable development of the country's nuclear industry, the company said in a website release

. Requiring total investment of more than 100 billion yuan, the nuclear cycling project would be constructed by CNNC with relevant technical responsibility shouldered by French AREVA. The project could realize domestic nuclear power plant fuel discharge treatment of 800 tonnes annually upon completion, the company said.
