NDRC to lower solar PV power's benchmark sale prices to grid firms

China's National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC), the country's top economic planner, will gradually lower solar photovoltaic (PV) power's benchmark sale prices to grid operators during the 13th Five-year Plan period (2016-2020), according to an official document recently published by the NDRC.

Solar PV power's sale prices to grid companies will be equal to the prices of electricity grid companies sell to consumers by 2020, according to a government plan on energy development strategy. In the first-class regions, solar PV power benchmark's sale price to grid companies will be lowered from the current 0.9 yuan/kWh to 0.85 yuan/kWh, 0.82 yuan/kWh, 0.79 yuan/kWh, 0.76 yuan/kWh and 0.72 yuan/kWh from 2016 to 2020.

In the second-class regions, the price will be cut from 0.95 yuan/kWh to 0.92 yuan/kWh, 0.89 yuan/kWh, 0.86 yuan/kWh, 0.83 yuan/kWh and 0.8 yuan/kWh. In the third-class regions, the price will be cut from 1 yuan/kWh to 0.98 yuan/kWh, 0.96 yuan/kWh, 0.94 yuan/kWh, 0.92 yuan/kWh and 0.9 yuan/kWh.
