Construction on a new ultra high-voltage (UHV) direct current (DC) power transmission line from Inner Mongolia in north China to Shandong Province in east China has been approved by the National Development and Reform Commission (NDRC).

As the sixth UHV project of the State Grid Corp approved in 2015, this transmission project will start from Shanghaimiao in Otog Banner in Erdos to Linyi in Shandong province via Shaanxi, Shanxi, Hebei and Henan provinces.

It would involve total investment of 22.1 billion yuan and produce a new DC transmission line of 1,238 kilometers. So far, the four UHV transmission lines starting from Inner Mongolia planned by the National Energy Administration as a measure to cure air pollution in the Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei area have all been approved.

The other three lines include Xilin Gol League-Shandong UHV line, West Inner Mongolia-South Tianjin UHV line, and Xilin Gol League-Taizhou UHV line.
