China has made plans to upgrade the transport networks among cities in Beijing-Tianjin-Hebei province, the Yangtze River Delta, the Pearl River Delta and some other regions.
The plans altogether involve 21 regions, where 215 cities and some 65 percent of Chinese population are located. Those regions contribute about 90 percent to the GDP of China.
According to the plans, the interurban railways in China will extend to 36,000 kilometers by 2020, reaching 98 percent of Chinese node cities and 60 percent of Chinese counties.
