Guangzhou, capital of south China's Guangdong Province, is not to levy real estate tax at present, said Chen Rugui, vice mayor of the city on Tuesday.
According to Chen, Guangzhou had not received the notice from the central government to let it launch the real estate tax so the city did not conduct relevant work.
China introduced real estate tax trials in the cities of Shanghai and Chongqing at the beginning of 2011 as part of efforts to curb runaway home prices.
