CHENGDU, April 23 (Xinhua) -- Chengdu, capital of southwest China's Sichuan Province, will build two more hydrogen stations this year as the city pushes forward plans to increase green buses, according to local authorities.

The plans were announced during a industry meeting on hydrogen fuel cells held Monday in Chengdu.

Last year, 10 public buses using hydrogen cell engines became operational for commercial use in Chengdu. So far, the buses have safely ran for more than 400,000 km.

The city plans to put another 110 such buses on the road this year, according to Luo Xilin, deputy head of the Municipal Bureau of Economy and Information Technology.

In April, the first phase of an automatic production line of hydrogen cells went into operation in Sichuan. It is the first such automatic production line in the western areas of China.
