BEIJING, Nov. 11 (Xinhua) -- China's installed photovoltaic (PV) capacity rose 15 percent year on year by the end of September, official data showed.

Total PV installations amounted to 190.19 megawatts, with 15.99 megawatts of capacity added in the first three quarters, according to the National Energy Administration.

PV power generation came in at 171.5 billion kilowatt-hours during the January-September period, up 28 percent from the same period last year.

Most new installed PV capacity was located in north and northwest China, accounting for 31.8 percent and 26.9 percent of the total new PV power capacity, respectively.

China is taking the lead in PV development globally, with an internationally competitive and complete industrial chain.

By the end of 2020, renewable energy will supply 1.9 trillion kilowatt-hours of electricity, 27 percent of China's total power generation, according to the government's 2016-2020 plan for renewable energy.
