By the end of February, the bank had granted 49.2 billion yuan (about 7.8 billion U.S. dollars) worth of credit to support the construction of 55 affordable rental housing projects in cities such as Beijing, Shenzhen and Suzhou, the bank said.
These projects will add about 120,000 rental housing units to the market.
The bank said it will further improve its credit policies and give more financial support to affordable housing projects as part of the country's broader moves to improve people's living standards.
