China sees RMB2.1 trln new bond offerings in Aug., up 65pct y-o-y

China has seen overall 2.1 trillion yuan of new bond offerings in August, up 65 percent from a year earlier but down 7.7 percent over July, according to statistics from the central bank Wednesday.

The figure consists of 194.51 billion yuan T-bond issues, 480.32 billion yuan local government bond issues, 246.02 billion yuan financial bond issues, 650.43 billion yuan corporate bonds, 28.96 billion yuan credit assets-backed securities and 447 billion yuan interbank certificates of deposit (CDs) in August.

By markets, two trillion yuan of bonds were floated on the interbank bond market in August, up 60.2 percent from a year ago but down 6.6 percent than July.

Interbank cash bond turnover surged 138.9 percent year on year to 8.2 trillion yuan, with the daily average at 388.8 billion yuan. By the end of August, China's total outstanding bonds stood at 42.3 trillion yuan.
