China's overnight Shibor interbank rate increases Wednesday

BEIJING, May 15 (Xinhua) -- The overnight Shanghai Interbank Offered Rate (Shibor), which measures the borrowing cost of China's interbank market, increased 12.11 basis points to 2.5334 percent Wednesday.

The seven-day Shibor decreased 0.9 basis points to 2.641 percent, while the two-week rate was up 1.3 basis points to 2.462 percent.

The one-month Shibor went down 0.4 basis points to 2.713 percent, with the three-month rate up 0.2 basis points to 2.893 percent, and the six-month rate staying flat at 2.948 percent.

The nine-month rate went up 0.2 basis points to 3.052 percent, and the one-year rate stayed flat at 3.153 percent.

Shibor is a simple, no-guarantee, wholesale interest rate calculated by arithmetically averaging all the interbank RMB lending rates offered by the price quotation group of 18 commercial banks with a high credit rating, with the four highest and four lowest quotations excluded.
