Lottery sales in China increased 3.4 percent on year to 32.612 billion yuan in April, according to statistics released on the website of the Ministry of Finance (MOF) on Thursday.
Of which, welfare lottery sales increased 2.2 percent to reach 18.088 billion yuan, while sports lottery sales expanded 5 percent to 14.524 billion yuan, the MOF announced. From January to April, some 127.447 billion yuan worth of lottery tickets were sold, a year-on-year increase of 14.2 percent. Welfare lottery and sports lottery sales increased 7.1 percent and 23.8 percent to 68.609 billion yuan and 58.838 billion yuan respectively.
