The annual output of beef and mutton in China will reach 13 million metric tons (tonnes) and that of milk will increase to 41 million metric tonnes by the year of 2020, according to a guideline released by Ministry of Agriculture (MOA).
The guideline on development of animal husbandry says that China will take beef, mutton and milk production as focus for intensive and sustainable development of animal husbandry. MOA and local departments will strengthen policy support to promote transformation and upgrading of the industry. China's output of beef, mutton, and milk was 6.86 million, 4.28 million and 37.25 million tonnes respectively in 2014, an increase of 2.4 percent, 4.9percent, and 5.5 percent year on year.
