The complex steel price index compiled by MySteel declined 0.86 percent week on week to end at 78.65 during Sept. 14-18, according to the leading industrial information provider in China.
The decline rate was smaller than that of the previous week, MySteel said. Shanghai and Guangzhou saw construction steel prices drop 10-70 yuan/tonne last week while Jinan and Nanchang saw a marginal increase in construction steel prices.
As steel users will increase stocks before the seven-day National Day holiday arrives, it is expected the construction steel prices would stabilize during the rest time of September.
Hot-rolled coil prices dropped 10-70 yuan/tonne in Shanghai and Jinan and thick and medium plate prices dipped 10-60 yuan/tonne in Shanghai and Guangzhou, monitoring by MySteel showed.
