Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) grains closed mixed on Thursday with soybean futures posting gains for the fourth session in a row.

The most active corn contract for March delivery fell 1.5 cents, or 0.42 percent to settle at 3.515 dollars per bushel. March wheat delivery went up 3.75 cents, or 0.89 percent to close at 4.2525 dollars per bushel. March soybeans climbed 4.25 cents, or 0.44 percent to settle at 9.73 dollars per bushel.

CBOT brokers reported that funds bought 1,500 contracts of corn, 3,100 contracts of wheat and 3,300 contracts of soybeans.

The soybean futures continued the upturn amid weather forecasts for dry weather to return in the longer term in Argentina, probably for a month or so.

The CBOT soybeans, helped by a weakening dollar, are increasingly competitive in world markets, said traders.

Wheat futures received support from the dry conditions in the U.S. great plains and short-covering while corn prices retreated from a sharp rise in the previous session.
