Chicago Board of Trade (CBOT) soybeans traded higher on Wednesday morning amid continued optimism on trade talks with China.

"Very productive conversations going on with China!" tweeted U.S. President Donald Trump on Tuesday.

He was obviously referring to a telephone conversation between China's Vice Premier Liu He and U.S. Treasury Secretary Steven Mnuchin, Trade Representative Robert Lighthizer on trade issues between the two countries.

According to a statement released by China's Commerce Ministry, the two sides exchanged views on the timetable and roadmap to push forward the forthcoming trade talks.

Although market watchers here have not noticed any big purchase of U.S. soybeans by Chinese importers, the optimistic atmosphere did boost the oil seed futures.

As of 1614 GMT, the most active January 2019 soybeans were up 7.75 cents at 9.2275 dollars per bushel. March wheat was up 6.75 cents at 5.2775 dollars per bushel. March corn was up 1.25 cents at 3.86 dollars per bushel.
