Oil prices rise amid falling U.S. rig counts

NEW YORK, Nov. 4 (Xinhua) -- Oil prices rose on Monday amid falling U.S. rig counts.

The number of active oil rigs was at 691, down five from the previous week, according to the weekly data released by oil service company Baker Hughes on Friday.

The West Texas Intermediate for December delivery rose 0.34 U.S. dollar to settle at 56.54 dollars a barrel on the New York Mercantile Exchange.

Brent crude for January delivery increased 0.44 dollar to close at 62.13 dollars a barrel on the London ICE Futures Exchange.
