China's gold output surpasses 230 tonnes in H1

BEIJING, Aug. 8 (Xinhua) -- China's gold output reached 230.3 tonnes in the first half of this year (H1), up 12.4 percent year on year, according to the China Gold Association.

Specifically, gold products made of domestic raw materials amounted to 174.7 tonnes during the period, up 14.4 percent from a year earlier. Those made of imported materials saw their output expand by 6.7 percent to 55.6 tonnes.

In the January-June period, gold consumption shrank by 12.8 percent year on year to 476.8 tonnes, the association said.

The spot prices for gold of 99.99 percent pure or above averaged 389.6 yuan (about 57.8 U.S. dollars) per gram, up 3.4 percent year on year.
