​Taiwan's RMB deposits rise in September

The renminbi-denominated deposit balance of Taiwan's financial institutions increased to 315.5 billion yuan (about 45.6 billion U.S. dollars) at the end of September, according to the island's monetary authority on Monday.

The figure was 582 million higher than at the end of August, an increase for the fourth consecutive month.

Of the total deposit balance, 280.7 billion yuan is under the island's 66 authorized banks, while an additional 34.8 billion yuan is under 58 offshore banking units.

The amount of RMB settlements handled by the Taipei Branch of Bank of China in September was 353.5 billion yuan.
