U.S. dollar rises amid improved risk appetite

NEW YORK, March 1 (Xinhua) -- The U.S. dollar rose in late trading on Friday as risk appetite was improved across financial markets.

The dollar index, which measures the greenback against six major peers, increased 0.39 percent at 96.5310 in late trading.

In late New York trading, the euro was down to 1.1357 dollars from 1.1378 dollars in the previous session, and the British pound decreased to 1.3189 dollars from 1.3268 U.S. dollars in the previous session. The Australian dollar fell to 0.7070 dollar from 0.7093 dollar. The U.S. dollar bought 112.00 Japanese yen, higher than 111.39 Japanese yen of the previous session. The U.S. dollar was up to 0.9995 Swiss franc from 0.9976 Swiss franc, and it increased to 1.3302 Canadian dollars from 1.3141 Canadian dollars.
