Aussie dollar plummets from one-month high

SYDNEY, April 16 (Xinhua) -- The Australian dollar fell sharply against the greenback on Thursday, amid mixed sentiment and a heavy day for local shares.

AT 07:00 (AEST), the Australian dollar was buying 63.17 U.S. cents, down from 64.41 U.S. cents on Wednesday.

"AUD/USD fell all day, from a recent peak of 64.44 U.S. cents to 62.84 U.S. cents in London, steadying around 63.20 U.S. cents, -1.9 percent overall," Westpac Bank economist said in a morning note.

At 09:30 (AEST), the local unit was buying 63.17 U.S. cents.
